"The revolver has the distinctive flat frame top and sides with dove-tail mounted rear sight. The block-mounted front sight is adjustable and has a removable blued steel blade. The revolver has a full blue finish. The top of the hammer, rear sight, trigger and screws are niter blue. The sides of the hammer are bright. The revolver has two-piece, black, checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt trademark in an oval at the top of each grip. The barrel is roll-stamped with the legend: "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." in one line. The left side of the barrel is roll-stamped: "450 ELEY". London "Crown/GP" and "Crown/V" proof and inspection marks are stamped on the underside of the barrel. The left side of the frame is roll-stamped with the Colt 'Two-Line/Three-Date' patent markings followed by the encircled Rampant Colt trademark. The assembly number, "525" is stamped on the loading gate. London proof and view marks are stamped alternately in each chamber flute. An "O" Colt inspection mark is stamped in the hammer slot. The full serial number, "152116" is stamped on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and hammer. Colt manufactured an estimated total of 925 Single Action Flattop Target Model revolvers; 84 of these revolvers were chambered for the .450 Eley cartridge." RIA
Condition: "Excellent. The revolver retains 90% plus of the bright original high polish commercial blue finish. There is some edge wear on the top strap and at the muzzle and along the top of the ejector housing. The rear sight, top of the hammer, frame screws and trigger retain most of the niter blue finish. The markings and serial numbers are sharp. The left grip has faded to a brown and the right grip has most of the black finish. Both grips remain in excellent condition with sharp checkering. The bore is mirror bright and the action is crisp and functions perfectly. This is an exceptional example of a rare Colt Single Action Army Flattop Target Model revolver." RIA
