IVORY GRIP Antique COLT Black Powder SAA Revolver
Description: IVORY GRIP Antique COLT Black Powder SAA Revolver .45 COLT Made in 1880 with Antique Ivory Grips! Here we present an antique Black Powder Frame Colt Single Action Army, made in 1880 in Hartford, Connecticut. The Colt “Peacemaker” was introduced in 1873 and has become one of the most iconic firearms in all of history, thanks to its widespread use by the U.S. military, civilians and, more recently, in Western films. Though Colt enjoyed the largest contracts of any handgun maker during the American Civil War, it had to rely on its array of percussion fired revolvers, namely the 1860 Army until the Smith & Wesson owned Rollin White Patent expired in 1869. This enabled them to begin making revolvers with completely bored through cylinder chambers in order to utilize modern metallic cartridge ammunition in the most effective manner. In 1869, Colt’s began development of a suitable cartridge revolver in earnest, first coming out with a number of conversions for their percussion lines, until 1872 when they debuted what was to become the Colt Model 1873 Single Action Army in the 1872 U.S. Trials. Needless to say, it won, and became the Army’s revolver of choice. It also became the sidearm of choice for many others like cowboys, guards, lawmen, crooks, shopkeepers and all manner of civilians. This specimen features beautiful antique ivory grips that give this first generation Colt SAA a ton of character. It sports a full-length, 7-1/2 inch barrel, and is chambered for the legendary .45 Colt. The top of the barrel reads “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.” The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces show some weathering and a gray-brown patina. The markings are clear. The serial numbers match. The antique ivory grips are from the period and show very nice wear. The bore is clean with good rifling. The action is excellent. Here is a fantastic, original example of the rugged and legendary Colt .45! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 7-1/2 inches. Caliber: .45 Colt Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
