Colt Single Action Army Revolver in .38 Colt Caliber **Letter of Authenticity - Mfg 1906**
Description: Presented here is a very nice Colt Single Action Army revolver in .38 Colt caliber. This beautiful Colt SAA was shipped from the factory on July 7, 1906 to M Hartley Company in New York, NY.. The Colt Single Action Army needs no introduction, but in brief, the Colt Single Action Army (also known as the SAA, Model P, Peacemaker, or M1873) is a single-action revolver handgun. It was designed in 1872 for the U.S. government service revolver trials of 1872 by Colt's Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company (today known as Colt's Manufacturing Company) and was adopted as the standard-issued pistol of the US Army in 1873 until 1892. According to Colt fewer than 1% of SAAs were chambered in .38 Long Colt particularly prior to 1914. This revolver has worn to a handsome warm grey patina over the years. Some high edge wear exists along with finish loss. The 4 3/4" barrel has a good bore and still has strong rifling. The action is smooth and locks up tightly in the "fired" condition. The Rampant Colt logo has a circle around it as they didn't remove the circle till serial number 324,XXX. The hard rubber grips have some wear and rounding of the features. Checkering on the top of the trigger is still sharp. This beautiful and historical Colt would be a great investment and a strong addition to a collection.
