Colt 1st Gen. SAA Colt Frontier Six Shooter 4.75” Barrel Texas Shipped c.1906 w/Holster & Cartridge Belt, Letter
Description: This Colt Single Action Army revolver was shipped to Krakauer, Zork & Moye Company, El Paso, Texas, February 28, 1906, with nine other guns (serial number 275264). It is a Colt Frontier Six Shooter meaning the caliber is .44 WCF or .44-40. It is fit with original gutta percha grips. The gun is in very good condition mechanically with all four clicks and three functioning notches. There is little or thin original finish on the frame, but a fair amount of blue on non-cased parts. The cylinder shows a little more pitting on one side than the other, probably due to holster storage. The bore is about perfect. The bad news for collectors is that the back strap has been replaced with one manufactured in 1926. The backstrap may also have been mended as there are some suspicious imperfections visible at the top. I guess this just show the gun was used enough to need some fixing at some point. The holster and belt housing the Colt is an earlier George Lawrence, Portland, Oregon, heavy leather, carved and laced, single loop holster with matching cartridge belt (size 35”-36”) in very good condition. Cartridges do not accompany the rig. Shipping is $100.00, Priority, insured.
