"SN: 122354. Made in 1889. 44-40 caliber with a 3 ½" barrel. This is a scarce gun as it has the early “Double Fluted" contoured frame and it has the etched panel marking of “Colt Frontier Six Shooter" Both are rare features on a Sheriffs model. The metal has been cleaned to a light gray patina. The grips are original Colt grips, but not to this gun. Accompanying this gun is a factory letter confirming the features. This gun was in a shipment of one to J. F Schmelzer in Kansas City, Mo. Also accompanying this gun is a letter from noted Colt expert John Kopec attesting to this gun being in his collection. Finally a letter from noted Colt Expert Ron Graham authenticating this gun and describing the rarity of the features. Colt Sheriffs models are a variation where there is no ejector rod present.
