Colt Python Double Action Revolver Chambered in .357 Magnum Caliber **Mfg 1978 - Very Good Condition - 6 inch blued**

Description:
For consideration is a very nice Colt Python double action revolver chambered for .357 Magnum caliber. The Colt Python is a .357 magnum caliber revolver manufactured by Colt's Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut. It was first introduced in 1955, the same year as Smith & Wesson's M29 .44 Magnum. The Colt Python is intended for the premium revolver market segment. Some firearm collectors and writers such as Jeff Cooper, Ian V. Hogg, Chuck Hawks, Leroy Thompson, Scott Wolber, Renee Smeets and Martin Dougherty have described the Python as "the finest production revolver ever made". The .357 Magnum is a smokeless powder cartridge with a 0.357 in bullet diameter. It was created by Elmer Keith, Phillip B. Sharpe, and Douglas B. Wesson of firearm manufacturers Smith & Wesson and Winchester. The .357 Magnum cartridge is notable for its highly effective terminal ballistics. This particular example is in very fine condition having just a very little wear at the muzzle and a bit of scuffing on the top strap in front of the rear sight. There are a few light marks on the underlug close to the muzzle (see photo 9) and a few other small spots. Mechanically the Python is in outstanding condition. The grip panels are in excellent shape exhibiting a few small pressure marks on the bottom. The Colt medallions have a good finish and very little wear. The action is smooth and locks up very tightly in the "fired" condition. The gap between the front of the cylinder and the barrel is small. The 6 inch vent rib barrel has a bright bore with strong rifling. Sights are a ramped front and adjustable rear. Grooved trigger and checkered hammer are still very sharp. The cylinder has extremely light turn rings. This fine Colt Python would be a great addition to a collection or an excellent way to start a new collection.
