Colt Detective Fitz Special
Description:
The Colt Fitz Special
A Fitz Special Conversion and Museum Grade Restoration of your Colt Revolver
For more than one-hundred years, the Fitz Special has been the epitome in self-defense revolvers. Fast, concealable, dependable are the reason why they remain in use to this day.
Designed to be carried inconspicuously in a front pant or jacket pocket, non-threatening, yet already in the hand, the Fitz is fast to action.
The Fitz Special – was born from an era of Speakeasy's and gumshoes, when discretion was the better part of valor. Always best to walk away, but when cornered, best to be first.
There are several choices in considering a Fitz; barrel length, sights, the grips, and trigger guard are just a few.
Traditionally, a Fitz is designed to be as compact as the revolver can be while remaining dependable and accurate. A one and a half to two-inch barrel is considered standard, however three inches and longer Fitz Specials have always been prevalent.
The shortened and rounded grip frame fitted with checkered wood stocks and a snub barrel, bobbed, and checkered hammer and cut-away trigger guard were hallmarks of FitzGerald’s design, though every combination has been done in creating a Fitz, for this is a very personalized revolver, designed exclusively to preference.
Over two-hundred hours goes into the production of the Fitz as we take pride in creating the most visually stunning restorations and conversions possible.
