Description:
Introduced in 1927, the Detective Special was the first short-barreled revolver produced with a modern swing-out cylinder designed to be chambered for higher-powered cartridges such as the .38 Special. This example is a first issue square butt, Detective Special that was manufactured on February 8, 1930. These hard to find square butt revolvers were only made until 1933. The original blue finish has minor scratches and surface imperfections that one would expect to see in a lightly used 95 year old gun. The markings remain clear and distinct. There is minor high edge wear throughout, including minor muzzle wear. The grips are in great shape with no deep scratches or imperfections. The bore is bright with strong rifling. The trigger pull is smooth and the cylinder locks up tight. Although an effort was made to determine the shipping destination, the archives were only able to confirm it's configuration and date of manufacture. This Colt would be a great addition to any Colt collection or for home defense.
