1976 Colt Detective Special .38 Special Revolver EXCELLENT!!

Description:
For sale, a beautiful "3rd Model or Issue" Colt Detective Special revolver chambered in the .38 Special cartridge.  This example was made in 1976 and is serial number M48721.  This Colt is in excellent 100% original condition.  The original Colt factory gloss blue finish rates 96% plus, with the only real visible wear showing on the face of the cylinder where someone got a little overzealous cleaning it.  The gun itself shows no signs of having been carried, and very little evidence of having been shot.  It likely has been fired a handful of times since it left the factory in '76, and probably has spent the vast majority of it's life in a safe or sock drawer.  There is a very faint drag line around the cylinder, but none of the high edge wear or thinning of the finish on the grip strap you would see with a gun used more than a handful of times.  The bore is minty bright with no pitting or signs of erosion, and the lands and grooves of the rifling look sharp and like-new.  As you can see in the pictures, all of the screws in this Detective Special look un-turned and new.  The sideplate appears to have never been removed since it was assembled at the factory.  The original factory checkered Walnut grips are just like the rest of the gun; in excellent condition and show no signs of wear.  They are free from cracks or repairs, and they were nicely fit to the gun at the factory.  The action on this Colt is 100% functional and locks up tight like the day it was built.  There is no wobble or play in the cylinder.  The trigger breaks cleanly in both single and double action modes of firing.  If you have been looking for a super clean Detective Special here is your chance to get a great original example at a great price.  These little Colt's seem to keep appreciating every year, and clean examples like this are getting scarce!
