Used; Circa 1902; SN 228,3XX; Colt Bisley Model Revolver in .38-40 / 38 WCF Caliber; 5½ Inch Barrel; Bright Nickel Plated with Extraordinarily Masterful; Almost 100 Percent Engraving Coverage; Grips are Extremely Well-Preserved and Perfectly Custom-Fitted Old Ivory. A pending Colt’s Letter shows this gun was shipped with this barrel length and in this caliber – not factory-engraved. The Engraver’s Art is a Classic, Perfectly Executed Scroll and Floral Pattern with Stippled Fill-ins; Skill plus Attention to Detail are Remarkable. Hammer, Trigger, Ejector Rod Tip, Base Pin Knob (old cylindrical style), Base Pin Release, and Visible Screws are Gold Plated. Top of Barrel has a Single Line Colt Address with “(Bisley Model)” and 38 W.C.F. on the Left Side. The plating is all there; has scattered areas of superficial pitting on the cylinder flutes, front & rear cylinder faces, and elsewhere. All numbers and markings are where they should be – and are crisp and deep – indicating the metal has Not been polished or refinished. The bore has superficial, even pitting with no major defects to the naked eye under flashlight illumination. The rifling is quite well preserved and the action is tight, correct and fully functional.
