1884 CASED Antique COLT “NEW HOUSE” Model .38 Caliber SPUR TRIGGER Revolver Etched Panel LONDON RETAILER MARKED Watson & Hancock
Description: 1884 CASED Antique COLT “NEW HOUSE” Model .38 Caliber SPUR TRIGGER Revolver Etched Panel LONDON RETAILER MARKED Watson & Hancock Here we present an antique Cased Colt 5-shot “New House” Model Revolver, made in 1884 in Hartford, Connecticut with a production run between 1880 and 1886. In 1880 Colt introduced a new, upgraded version of its House (Cloverleaf) pattern revolver. The aptly named “New House” revolver was essentially an upsized version of the Colt New Line revolvers currently in production, with a larger frame and a larger grip with a square butt profile. Like the New Line revolvers, the New House series remained solid frame single action revolvers with spur triggers that were essentially intended for pocket carry. Unlike the New Line guns, the New House guns were only made in a single frame size, regardless of caliber. The majority of the revolvers were produced in .38 Colt, but they were also produced in .41 Colt, and a few were manufactured in .32 Colt, those being very rare. Around 4,000 of these New House revolvers were produced between 1880 and 1886, with the serial numbers running concurrently with the New Line .32, .38 and .41 caliber pistols as well as the New Police revolvers. All of the New House model revolvers were made in the serial number range of 14,450 to 21,500. This example is London proofed and is deeply inscribed “WATSON & HANCOCK. / 308. HIGH HOLBORN. LONDON.” on the backstrap. The case includes an oiler, key, L-shaped combination screwdriver and cleaning rod. From Nigel Brow’s British Gunmakers, Watson & Hancock were at 313 High Holborn between 1868 to 1881. Then, 308 High Holborn between 1882 to 1890. The overall condition is very good. Original nickel finish. The action is excellent. The bore is a bit dim with thin but visible rifling. The muzzle is slightly deformed on one side likely due to a drop. London proofed. The grips are solid. The case is in great condition. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 2-1/4 inches. Caliber: .38 Centerfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2500 #228606 Price: $2,500.00 Buy Now Antique: Yes Contact Seller |
