Antique Colt 1849 Pocket Model. 5" Barrel.. Some Nice Blue and Case Colors. Crisp And Tight As New.. All Cylinder Scene.!!!!
Description:
Antique Colt 1849 Pocket. Here is a well above average Colt 1849 Pocket.. Has the standard 5” barrel.. A little more scarce than the 4” and 6” barrels. Of course in .31 caliber cap and ball. The S/N is 307120 and is ALL matching including the wedge and arbor pin. No number on the rammer that is correct in this later S/N range. The number on the trigger guard was a light stamp and the number 3 is very light but visible. Still has sharp edges so there was no buffing or polishing on the gun anywhere. Gun was made in 1868. As you can see this little Colt has generous amounts of finish. The case colors on the frame would rate about 50% or so on the left side. The right side has less and has faded out to about 25% or so. They did not show up in the photos very well.. The rammer has most of the case colors on both flats. The stem has good darkened pattern but just not as vivid colors. The case colors on the hammer have faded down to about 35% or so on both sides and the rear. The mechanics are excellent.. Tight and crisp as a new gun. Very little front to rear cylinder movement and NO side to side wobble. Rock solid barrel to frame fit. The barrel still fits tight on the arbor pin and frame pins that you have to use the rammer to push off the front of the cylinder to remove it.. The barrel has about 30% or so scattered flashes of blue with most all the blue on the bottom barrel flat as you can see. The cylinder has about 20% thinned blue. The cylinder scene is excellent and I would rate at 98% sharp and crisp all the way around. The barrel address is also excellent and sharp.. Was hard to pick up in the sun light for the photos but it is excellent.. The grips are excellent as well and still retains 100% factory varnish. NO cracks or chips and shows very little handling mars. Absolutely perfect grips on this little gun. The bore is very good with strong and sharp rifling with a little roughness down in the groves.. I have not attempted to clean or brush it out so I know it will clean up much better but still a very good bore. The cylinder chambers are excellent with NO roughness at all. The screw heads slots are all sharp and crisp like new with no mars or burring up at all.. Most of them still show the factory fire blue on them. This is a very nice above average 1849 that shows a little honest use but never abused and still good enough for a factory case if you have one.. Still has some nice finish for the money and crisp and tight as new. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos.. No text please. $30 insured registered mail shipping.
