Antique COLT THUNDERER M1877 Revolver Made 1882
Description: Antique COLT THUNDERER M1877 Revolver Made 1882 With ETCHED PANEL Barrel Here we present an Antique Colt M1877 “Thunderer” Revolver with an etched panel barrel, manufactured in 1882 in Hartford, Connecticut. The Model 1877 was offered in three different calibers, which led to the three unofficial names. The “Lightning” which was chambered in .38 Long Colt. The “Thunderer” which was chambered in .41 Colt. And, the “Rainmaker” which was chambered in .32 Colt. Neither "Lightning" nor "Thunderer" were Colt designations, and were not used by the factory in any reference materials. Both terms were coined by Benjamin Kittredge, one of Colt's major distributors. Kittredge was also responsible for the term "Peacemaker" for the Colt Single Action Army. The 1877 "Thunderer" in .41 caliber was the preferred weapon of Billy the Kid and was his weapon of choice when he was killed by Pat Garrett in 1881. The top of the barrel is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. C2/HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.” The left side of the frame is marked “PAT.SEPT. 18, 1871/PAT.SEPT.15, 1874/PAT.JAN. 19, 1875”. The overall condition is good. The nickel finish is about 40% complete. The etched panel is 80% legible. The other markings are clear. The serial numbers match. The original hard rubber grips are worn smooth from use and remain solid. The bore is in good condition with clear rifling and a plum patina. The action is functional, though the trigger return spring is weak. The holster is in good condition with about 75% of the stitching remaining intact. Here is a neat Colt revolver with holster that would look great in an Old West display! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 3-1/2 inches. Caliber: .41 Colt Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1200 #6124 SOLD Antique: Yes |
