Engraved Colt Single Action Army Revolver
Description:
Engraved 45 Colt Single Action Army revolver with steer head carved grip and factory letter. 45 cal, 4 3/4" round barrel, chrome finish, antique ivory grip. Serial #105849. Numerals and design on metal legible; lightly scratched, bruised or minor cracks repaired. The factory letter lists this revolver in .45 caliber with a 4 3/4 inch barrel, soft finish, and rubber grips when shipped to Hartley & Graham in New York City on January 15, 1885, in a shipment of 25 revolvers of this type. The remarks note that "soft" finish guns were intended to engraving outside of the factory. The right grip has a raised relief carved steer head and a pink gem "eye" on the screw nut. A copy of "The J.W. Bates Collection" is included listing this revolver as "from the Ft. Fisher Texas Ranger Museum."
