Colt Single Action Army 1873
SAA Revolver .45 Colt 7 1/2" with Factory Letter
Description:
This is a pretty nice Colt Single Action Army that was shipped to Shapleigh Hardware Company in January, 1926 in a one gun shipment. For a 1920's SAA, it has the rather hard to find more traditional 7 1/2" Barrel as well as being in .45 Colt. Standard blued/case colored hardened finish with checkered hard rubber grips with Rampant Colt. Everything on this gun corresponds perfectly to the Colt Factory Letter down to the grips. Overall Condition Grades to NRA Antique Fine Plus Condition. The blue on the barrel, cylinder, triggerguard, and backstrap is toning brown with brighter blue in the protected areas. I would describe the barrel as having 80% fading age-darkened blue with the balance turned to patina. It's blue, just not bright blue due to age. The cylinder is also about 85% age darkened blue that is faded and dull. The gripstraps are more of a brown patina with good blue around the trigger guard and top of backstrap. The case colors on the frame have turned dark and smoky. You can still see a fair bit of the original patterns with areas of silver while the greens/blues have turned mostly brown...with a bit of bright color in the protected areas. Back of hammer still shows some brighter colors and inside the loading gate. Screws are all nice. Original front sight has never been filed down or monkeyed with. The action is nice and crisp with all 4 clicks. Bore is Very Good Overall...mostly bright with sharp rifling and a few areas of very light pitting down in the grooves. Not a bad bore at all. Grips look perfect with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Nice checkered. This gun doesn't look like it saw very much use, just sat somewhere here in the South where the humidity over the years dulled it a bit and started to turn to brown. Found this here in GA locally and it appears to have been here for most of its life. This will have to be shipped to an FFL if you're outside of GA. Will go from my FFL to your FFL. Shipping $40.00.
