Colt SAA Artillery .45 cal.
Description:
SOLD -Very rare collector's quality COLT SAA Artillery
made in 1887 with accompanying John Kopec letter and Colt letter. The rarity comes from the fact that this gun has all matching serial numbers except for only the barrel, yet is an Artillery model. Also, as noted by Mr. Kopec, the gun exhibits its ORIGINAL factory finish with only the barrel receiving the Arsenal re-blue when it was shortened. Mr. Kopec concludes his opinion letter by stating the gun is " worthy of the finest Colt collection ". Overall condition is excellent with still very visible case colors and factory blue finish. There is some holster wear on the right side front of the ejection housing, so this is no vault queen. Most likely saw limited action in the Spanish-American war for which it was reconfigured to the Artillery style. Mechanics are as they should be. Hard to part with this beauty. Pictures don't really do it justice. Not cheap but quality isn't typically. Thanks for looking!
