Colt SAA 4 Digit Calvary Ainsworth w/Kopec letter, holster
Description: I have a early Colt SAA 4 digit Anisworth inspected 7 1/2 Calvary revolver for sale. This Colt was manufactured in December of 1873 and shipped to the US Goverment December 31 1873. It was about 20 serial numbers from the last Colt Shipped to the US in 1873. Kopec describes the Colt as remaining in the original calavary configuration and avoided the OD recall in 1893 to be cut down to artillery standards. The letters DG stamped over the traditional US markings and is believed that the Colt was "Liberated" by a deserter allowing it to stay in its current condition. The frame, trigger guard, cylinder, back strap butt, and barrel retain all matching numbers but the ejector does not. The action works but with only 3 clicks. Some screws have been replaced, the grips appear original but no visible cartouche. There is pitting throughout which can be seen and a dark bore. The Colt is not a beauty queen but she definitely is solid. It comes with an original holster with Lanz Owen Co Chicago stampes on the back. **** Since Kopecs letter the Colt was lightly cleaned, back strap removed and confirmed original grips, and action worked on to function properly. ***** Real piece of history.
