*RARE* Colt SAA U.S. M1881 Holster for the Artillery Model Revolver with a 5 1/2" Barrel Span Am War

*SALE PENDING*-- Very rare, U.S. marked, Colt single action revolver holster for the Colt artillery revolver with the 5 1/2" barrel. These M1881 holster were used in the early indian wars through the Spanish American war. Most were modified at Rock Island Arsenal from the 7 1/2" barrel length to the 5 1/2" barrel length leading up to the Span Am war period. This particular holster is in overall good condition, with crazed leather throughout ,but, still retains approx, 75-80% of the original finish. The stitching is still tight and it retains the original plug in the bottom. It has the larger belt loop to accept the Mills 45cal.cartridge belt. (See " A Study of the Colt Single Action Army Revolver", by Graham, Kopec, and Moore, for more about these rare holsters.) The leather is still nice and pliable. This is a very hard to find holster in any condition as very few still exist! Please see pics as they are part of the description.
