Intended to address deficiencies of earlier models such as the Single Action Army, the Positive Lock prevented an accidental discharge even if the hammer was struck or the pistol was dropped, allowing the revolver to be safely carried with all six chambers loaded.
There are five issues or versions of the Colt Police Positive Special.
This model is the 4th Issue that was made for 4 Years 1977-1978: It sports a New shrouded ejector to modernize look.and a four inch barrel. Blued Colt finish and The “Special” was dropped from the name and was only mentioned in terms of the .38 Special chambering. The pistol is in excellent mechanical condition and was manufactured in 1977. At some point the cylinder and crane were replaced but the original parts are included. It appears the original cylinder suffered some cosmetic damage and the owner replaced it with factory colt replacement parts. The grips are in excellent condition with no cracks or other damage.
The gun has an excellent bore with strong rifling. The finish is 90% with a few small handling mark
