Colt Officer's Model Match History:
For 65 years they manufactured this handgun built on the “E” frame under several different names. Each one was manufactured first and foremost as a target revolver and specifically not as a general-use handgun.The Colt Officer's Model Match, Fifth Issue, was made from 1953 to 1969.
The Officer’s Model was the top of Colt’s revolver line as a target revolver until the introduction of the Colt Python in 1955. In 1969, the Colt Officer’s Model was dropped from production. In 1969, Colt discontinued all older-type medium action revolvers with the exception of the Python.These revolvers had a hand-fitted and finished action, checkered trigger, and back strap, with an adjustable rear sight and an adjustable front sight. This Double-action revolver with swing-out fluted cylinder, adjustable target sights, and cartridge extractors. They received extensive polishing and action tuning, resulting in one of the best factory single-action triggers. However, the double-action mode is no slouch, either. The rich dark “hot” Blued finish with large checkered walnut target grips is from a past era. These target Colt 38’s are great collector models with some enthusiasts arguing this caliber is the best among professional target shooters for that era. The Colt officers models was a favorite of competitive pistol target shooters for decades pre and post WW2.
Condition:
This all original / factory model / DOB 1967 Chambered in 38 Special, 6” heavy “tapered” barrel with an excellent bore. Features a checkered hammer, flat top strap, and a grooved trigger. This fifth issue revolver has some honest wear since it left the factory in 1967 and retains about 99% original dark bluing showing some minor edge wear and a small slight blemish mark along the left side of the barrel. Condition is excellent for a 52 year Colt. Bore is bright and rifling is sharp with clean cartridge chambers. This Colt appears not messed with and well cared for with very slight holster wear on right side of muzzle. The target hammer and trigger retains full rich color. The beautiful fully checkered walnut original factory target grips with silver Rampant Colt medallions are correct for this period of manufacture. These grips are in overall very good condition with wear noted in pictures. This revolver features a target Partridge front sight, Colt Accro adjustable rear sight, with timing and lock up excellent.

This all original / factory model / DOB 1967 Chambered in 38 Special, 6” heavy “tapered” barrel with an excellent bore. Features a checkered hammer, flat top strap, and a grooved trigger. This fifth issue revolver has some honest wear since it left the factory in 1967 and retains about 99% original dark bluing showing some minor edge wear and a small slight blemish mark along the left side of the barrel. Condition is excellent for a 52 year Colt. Bore is bright and rifling is sharp with clean cartridge chambers. This Colt appears not messed with and well cared for with very slight holster wear on right side of muzzle. The target hammer and trigger retains full rich color. The beautiful fully checkered walnut original factory target grips with silver Rampant Colt medallions are correct for this period of manufacture. These grips are in overall very good condition with wear noted in pictures. This revolver features a target Partridge front sight, Colt Accro adjustable rear sight, with timing and lock up excellent.

Colt Officer's Model Match History:
For 65 years they manufactured this handgun built on the “E” frame under several different names. Each one was manufactured first and foremost as a target revolver and specifically not as a general-use handgun.The Colt Officer's Model Match, Fifth Issue, was made from 1953 to 1969.
The Officer’s Model was the top of Colt’s revolver line as a target revolver until the introduction of the Colt Python in 1955. In 1969, the Colt Officer’s Model was dropped from production. In 1969, Colt discontinued all older-type medium action revolvers with the exception of the Python.These revolvers had a hand-fitted and finished action, checkered trigger, and back strap, with an adjustable rear sight and an adjustable front sight. This Double-action revolver with swing-out fluted cylinder, adjustable target sights, and cartridge extractors. They received extensive polishing and action tuning, resulting in one of the best factory single-action triggers. However, the double-action mode is no slouch, either. The rich dark “hot” Blued finish with large checkered walnut target grips is from a past era. These target Colt 38’s are great collector models with some enthusiasts arguing this caliber is the best among professional target shooters for that era. The Colt officers models was a favorite of competitive pistol target shooters for decades pre and post WW2.
