This 1917 Colt Army was produced in 1919. This Colt remains a venerable rock-solid warhorse with an excellent bore, bright cylinder chambers, perfect timing and “bank vault” lock-up.
The piece has been setup for match target shooting to extremely tight factory specs.
 
Cylinder gap is .0015” where the typical New Service is .006”-.008”, this was done to increase speed and accuracy.
The forcing cone has an eleven-degree chamfer which is optimal for target loads.
Micro-adjust rear target sights matched to a high ramp front blade sight.

Burnt orange wood target grips have right hand thumb rest and a Coke bottle design. There are two shallow scuffs in the left panel.

Lanyard loop has been removed and replaced by a pinned plug.
The arsenal refinished blue is near ninety percent with light silvering at the high points.
Backstrap is dull, lightly freckled, has no rust. (no rust on the piece)

There are two streaks on the side plate going towards the Rampant Colt which appear to be dried oil or vanish on the surface. Should clean up.

This Colt remains as found and it will clean-up very nicely.

Screws are excellent.
A dark spot at the tip of the hammer spur is on surface only and not damage.
There is no serious metal damage, just superficial scuffs and dings, the worst being two small dings at the inside top-strap.
All stamping including the Rampant Colt are clear and strong.

This is a very nice New Service chambered in .357 setup for match target shooting. Should not be missed.
