Colt New Service .45 with a 4 1/2” Barrel and British/Canadian Proof Mark
Description: Here is one that you don’t see every day, a 4 1/2” barrel New Service chambered in .45 Colt. The short barrel New Services are the most difficult to find. The guns serial number dates the revolver to 1939/1940 just before the United States entered into WWII and at a time when other countries were stocking up on weapons. This one appears to have been re-done at some point in the past but all the markings seem crisp and clear. The top of the frame on the left side has a proof stamp that is similar to the Canadian proof mark that was applied to the New Services that were shipped to the British Purchasing Commission for use by the Canadian Navy in Nova Scotia. I am not aware of any 4 1/2” that were shipped to the Canadian Navy however there may have been a few or this is a special order gun. The revolver retains most of the bluing and it is mechanically perfect with the action as tight as the day it left the factory. The original checkered hard rubber grips remain in excellent condition and the bore is perfect. A terrific short barreled New Service in a hard to find configuration. I offer a three day non firing inspection period and always want the buyer to be satisfied with their purchase. The gun will be packed correctly and shipped via FedEx Air with insurance to your FFL dealer in the continental United States for $55 (California is extra because I have to ship through my local dealer). This gun requires a C&R or FFL license for transfer. I ship the following day after the payment arrives and provide tracking information.
