Factory Engraved Double Cased Colt 1862 Pocket Police Deluxe Percussion Revolvers Silver Plated, Gold Washed, Burl Walnut
Description: You deserve something nice for you collection or Christmas! Fantastic Cased Pair of Presentation Grade Colt 1862 Pocket Navy .36 Caliber Percussion Revolvers! 1860's era Vine Scroll Pattern Engraving, Silver Plated with Gold Washed Cylinder/Loading Lever/Trigger. The grips are French Polished Fancy Burl Walnut. Comes complete in a Blue Lined Varnished Mahogany Wood Case with accessories consisting of Powder Flask, Bullet Mold, Spare Nipples, Oil Bottle, Cap Tin, and Takedown Tool. Key is missing. The tops of the barrels are stamped Navy Arms and I'm about 95% certain these were built by Aldo Uberti. Uberti supplied the same parts for the 2nd Generation Colt Percussion 1862 Pocket Police/Navy as well as the 3rd Generation Signature Series from the 1980's through the 1990's. The Date code on these revolvers is AA which dates this pair to the year 1975...so these actually pre-date the start of the 2nd Gen Colt 1862's. Whoever ordered these paid a lot of money for the work and my guess that in today's money, it would cost at least $2500 per gun to get this level of engraving, silver plating, gold wash, and fancy grips on a base level Uberti...and that's if you could find the craftsmen to do the work and could wait a couple of years. This pair is pretty accurate to what Colt offered in the late post War 1860s to early 1870's when silver plating was en vogue. The gold wash was achieved by quickly dipping the cylinder, hammer, etc in an electorlytic bath for just a second or two to get a thin layer of gold over the silver. Just like the originals, it's very fragile, and after 48 years, it's starting to wear thin in places. The silver plated components retain about 99% original silver. Both guns have a dragon or wolf engraved on the hammer. They also have knurled loading lever arms which is something you'd find on very special original 19th century Colt Percussion Revolvers. Looking for a great gift idea...how about a 3 year Gift! Surprise that special someone with one for Christmas or Birthday, then the other one a year later, and then the case on the third year. They will never forget a gift like this! Antique, Pre-1898 Percussion Revolvers according to Federal Law. Buyer must be 21 years old. These cannot be shipped to NJ, Chicago, HI, or DC. $50.00 shipping. SOLD Antique: Yes |
