Description: ****SOLD**** Here we have a very nice Colt Diamondback double action target revolver in .22 long rifle. Colt introduced the double-action Diamondback as a deluxe model in 1966. It has a wide serrated target hammer, ventilated rib, fully adjustable target quality sights, and full-length barrel underlug. It is a 6-shot revolver with a swing-out cylinder and was available in blue or nickel finishes. Visually, the Diamondback resembles a scaled-down version of the Python. Because of the light recoil of .22 caliber ammunition, the .22 version of the Diamondback can be used as a training gun for novice shooters. It had gained popularity with gun enthusiasts due to the inexpensive price of .22 caliber ammunition and since it has been discontinued, for its rarity. This particular example is in great/excellent overall condition. Lockup of the cylinder is very good in the "fired" condition and the action is smooth and precise whether fired single or double action. The wood grip are in excellent condition being free of cracks or chips and displaying the Colt medallion on both sides. The cylinder has light turn rings. Checkering on the hammer is still sharp. There is light high edge wear mostly at the muzzle. The 4" barrel has a very good bore with strong rifling. This beautiful Colt rimfire snake gun would be a fine addition to a collection or one of the finest plinkers ever made.
