1974 Vintage Colt Detective Special (3rd Issue) .38 Special Revolver**SOLD**
Description: This is an honest all-original 1974-production Colt Detective Special chambered in 38 Special. Manufactured in 1974, this Colt was made in the second year of the 3rd Model/Issue Detective Special manufactured from 1973 until 1986. This Colt has its fair share of carry/holster wear but is exceptional mechanical condition. This Detective Special features a 2 inch barrel, blue finish, wraparound checkered Walnut grips, a fully shrouded ejector rod, and an integral long serrated ramp front sight. This 3rd Issue Colt appears to have been fired very little. The blued finish is still bright with a decent amount of carry/holster wear along the edges and muzzle, and a very faint drag-line around the cylinder. The bore in the 2" inch barrel is excellent, with sharp rifling and no visible imperfections. The six chambers of the fluted cylinder are equally as clean and free from any damage. All of the factory markings are clean and visible, and both the face of the cylinder and the rear star are in excellent shape. The original factory grips on this Colt are in great shape but do show minor signs of handling. The checkering is still clean on both sides of the factory grips. These original grips are nicely fit to the grip frame. The action on this particular Colt is very crisp, perfectly timed, and has an absolutely positive lock up. Although the sides of the hammer are stained/discolored, the edges are still sharp and the straight grain of the metal is still visible. Sorry, no box or paperwork included.
