For sale is a 1943 Colt Commando in original as-new condition. This gun was shipped on 12/9/1943 to the State of Alabama Military Department in a shipment of 175 revolvers to replace Colt 1911A1's that the US Department of the Army rquired Alabama to transfer to that Department. Alabama then ordered these Commandos, but before they arrived, The Department of the Army reissued the .45 caliber 1911A1's and the Commandos,when they arrived, were shelved in their original boxes and never used. The attached letters detail their amazing history. This gun, serial number 32078 is in its original parkerized conditon with a few handling marks, particularly in the left side of the frame. The grips are mint and the barrel shows no use, the screws are undamaged, and the inspector's initials GHD along with the ordinance "bomb" marking are clearly stamped on the left side. The original box, numbered to the gun, and instruction manual are included in this sale. This is a complete package that will compliment any Colt collection, military or otherwise.
