1897 Colt SAA 22lr Conversion 5.5in Barrel
Description: Up for sale is this Colt SAA with a serial that dates to 1897. The revolver was refinished and converted 1950-60's. The hammer is marked HN which was an inspector for Colt, Henry Nettleton. The 3 visible serial numbers match. There is no serial on the cylinder that looks like it may have been engraved at one time. The overall finish is still in great shape. Bore is excellent. The Cylinder looks like it was about a 41 long cal? The plugs measure about .40in. The gun has been cleaned and oiled. I checked for any other markings under the grips and the ejector housing. It is an interesting piece. The gun could do with a visit to a gunsmith to refresh the springs. If you try to cycle it quickly the cylinder will go past the correct indexing position. If you move in a more controlled fashion it indexes and locks up as it should for every chamber. The great thing about these SAA revolvers is that parts, like springs and such, are available.....heck even eBay has parts lol $35 Shipping. Payment by check, cashier's check, or money order.
