EXQUISITE Civil War Themed Tiffany-style Antique Colt Frontier Revolver
Description: EXQUISITE Antique Tiffany-style Colt Frontier Six-Shooter Revolver Civil War Cast Grips, Extensive Engraving, Gold Wash, Silver Plate Here we present an antique Colt Frontier Six Shooter Revolver, made in 1889 in Hartford, Connecticut. Known by many different names—Model 1873, Single Action Army and the Peacemaker, just to name a few—this very revolver has become iconic of the U.S. and particularly the West. This specimen takes iconic to new levels. Beginning in the 1870s, the world famous Tiffany’s & Co. took factory production pistols and furnished many with incredibly elaborate custom grips, profuse engraving, and precious inlays and finishes. In fact, one of the most famous gun engravers in history, Louis Daniel Nimschke, worked for Tiffany & Co. and did many of these himself. You can imagine the kind of wealthy patrons that would be able to afford these works of art for themselves and for gifts to others. This example features high relief cast bronze grips with an American Civil War theme, very similar to the grip on a Colt 1860 Army done by Tiffany & Co. In the right panel oval you will witness the chaotic scene of a soldier dying in the arms of another, men racing to the front line, soldiers shooting, a rider-less horse rearing, war-torn Old Glory waving, and a smoky background. In the left panel oval you will see a mounted officer led infantry charge into Rebel cannon with a man being bayonetted and, once again, the American flag flying proudly. On the back-center of the grip is an American shield flanked by spears. On the bottom of the grip is a very impressive, literally “stand-out” federal eagle. The rest of the grips are decorated with intricate, interwoven designs. The frame, hammer, trigger guard, cylinder and barrel are delicately scroll engraved with 75% coverage. The cylinder and hammer are gold gilt. The rest of the gun is silver plated. The overall condition is very fine. 80% of the gold is present. 75% of the silver remains. The serial numbers match. Bore is fine, clean and shiny. The action is excellent. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 7-1/2 inches in length. Caliber: 44-40 The bore is in fine and shiny condition and the firing mechanism is excellent. Overall condition as seen in photos. Here is the standout you need for your collection. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $25,000 #21623 SOLD Antique: Yes |
