Colt single action .22 rimfire
Description: Here is an unusual Colt. This gun was made in 1891. The gun was built and converted to .22 rimfire by Alonzo Crull. Born in the late 1800's he lived until the 1970's. He was known as one of the best gunsmiths and gun builders of the era as his skills were remarkable. He was known for doing conversions on both single and double action Colts. The collector world is divided on him as Colt guys have a strong dislike for the fact that he ruined fine old Colts. One must remember that these guns in this era had a vakue of $3.00-$5.00. Gun owners never thought an old ugly colt had any value so often did these types of conversions. This gun was done from 1930'-40's. Regardless of your opinion on the ruination of a collectible colt the gun is beautiful. His work was very well done. Barrel and cylinder made from scratch not sleeved. No top barrel address or marking other than caliber on the left side. 5 1/2 barrel. Patent dates are strong. Case hardened frame with remaining gold washed hammer and ejector housing. Beautiful nickel. Fine ivory grips with fancy matching silver inlays. The action is perfect. Grips alone in this gun would be $1,000.00. Wish I knew the history on this gun. Always consider offers and trades. Antique ships direct for $38. Email or call with questions. Matt 214-957-7574 Price: $2,200.00 Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Colt Model: Single Action Contact Seller |
