Original Colt 1860 Shoulder Stock
Description:
This is a rare example of an original Military shoulder stock for a Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolver. The serial number (5611) on this stock correctly falls into the Fluted Army serial number range (3 to 8,000) with Colt manufacturing approximately 4,000 Model 1860 Army Revolvers with a fluted cylinder. These stocks were purchased on contract by independant States and the federal government during the Civil War. The buttplate and yoke are brass and are left in the bright which is correct for Military stocks. (Civilian stocks had silver plated hardware.) The yoke, buttplate and clamp shaft are stamped with the serial number "5611". The serial number 5611 is written in ink on the wood, under the butt stock. All stocks were numbered to the revolver. The stock has a correct iron saddle ring mounted on the lower tang. The knurled nut is on top of the yoke and threads directly onto the shaft of the clamp. Ask any questions. Additional photos upon request. Thanks for looking.
Rating Definition:
Very fine. The wood has a few minor pressure dents and some minor handling marks. The brass has an attractive patina.
