Colt Model 1862
New York Engraved with Tiffany Grips - Pocket Navy Conversion
Description: Colt Model 1862 , New York Engraved Pocket Navy with Tiffany Grips. matching numbers #3157, 5 shot 38RF with 5 1/2" barrel. Mexican Eagle with Snake grips. I contacted Joe with Colt and they have no records on this gun as is usual with conversion guns of this era. I have not found any info via the internet on this gun. I did have it inspected by a FEGA master engraver and others and all agreed it was shipped in the "white" and period New York engraved. Per Appraisal " Engraved Nickelplated and Goldwashed Colt Model 1862 Pocket Navy Conversion Revolver with Tiffany Grips. Serial Number "3157". 38.RF rimfire. 5 shot revolver with 5 1/2" barrel. Beautifully scroll engraved, probably by Louis Nimschke of New York. Original Tiffany "snake and eagle" cast chased and engraved silver plated brass grips. Brilliant condition with nearly all of the original nickel finish remaining and considerable gold wash left on the hammer and traces on the cylinder. The ejector rod head with most of the gold plating. The superb original grips with considerable traces of the original silver wash finish. An exceptional original example." The few gun shows I took it to said it was no doubt period correct and authenic. Please feel free to ask questions as I am Colt lover but NOT a expert by any means!
