This Model 1849 Colt was produced in 1851. The Colt's serial number is 24183. This Colt is a second year production pistol. It is chambered for the 31 caliber ball and conical bullet. This Colt is a 5 shot variation. This pistol is all matched serial numbers including the wedge. The action works fine with no issues. The bore is in fair condition. The nipples are in serviceable condition. The screws are in very fine condition with no burring or marring of the screw heads. The original wood grips are in very fine condition still having the original finish. This pistol's finish is in patina condition. The brass grip straps still have strong traces of the silver finish. This is especially true with the inside grip strap and trigger guard. The wood pistol case appears to be period for this Colt. The accessories include some lead conical and round balls, bullet mould, powder flask, case key And can of caps. The inside of the lid has a card stating-Folsom Brothers and Co. 194 Lake Street Chicago. There is also three other addresses for other locations of this business. This cased pistol makes a nice display for this Colt.
