Colt 1860 Army Revolver- Original Made in 1862, 44 Caliber
Description: I am listing for sale my original 1860 Colt Army 44 caliber percussion revolver made in late 1862. The revolver has all matching serial numbers except for the wedge which has been filed by the previous owner. The original one-piece walnut grips are smooth with a large chip out of the lower right corner and a very small chip on the upper left corner. The barrel and action are a smooth mottled gray/brown. The bore is very good with good sharp rifling and almost no pitting. The grip frame has the correct cutout for a detachable buttstock and some very light dinging on the bottom. The brass triggerguard is a smooth buttery yellow. All screwheads are in good condition with no evidence of tinkering. The action cocks, advances, and releases properly. Five of the six nipples are in good condition. The remaining one has been damaged by someone dry-firing and would have to be replaced if you choose to fire this gun. (I have not loaded or fired it. If you plan to do so, you should have the gun inspected by a qualified gunsmith before firing.) The barrel assembly is very tight to the action and has a good cylinder gap. The rear of the barrel is smooth and square. The cylinder scene is there but difficult to make out. From the general condition, I would say the gun has been carried a lot and shot a lot less. Someone kept it properly cleaned to have kept the bore in such good condition, as many of these guns have badly pitted bores. I made quite a few photos, but cannot post them all here. If you want to see them all, send me your email. Shipping is $60 by UPS Second Day Air, insured. FFL is required only for buyers in locations where FFL's are required for antique black powder revolvers. All others will need to send a photocopy of your driver's license to prove identity and age. If shipping to a FFL, UPS is not available, but will gun be shipped by USPS Insured Priority Mail from my dealer to yours at the same price. Payment must be made with USPS Money Orders. SOLD Antique: Yes Handgun Caliber: .44 Manufacturer: Colt Model: 1860 Army Serial Number: 82203 Barrel Length: 8 Condition: good Bore Condition: very good Manufacture Date: 1862 |
