Colt 1855 Sidehammer "Root" Revolver in .28 Cal.
Description:
The Colt "Root" Revolver (named for the designer E.K. Root) was manufactured in two calibers; .28 and .31. It was made using a solid frame, sidehammer action, and one piece wrap-around walnut grips. It was never well accepted because when it got dirty the cylinder would not turn and it was difficult to take apart and clean. This is a very nice example with a strong cylinder scene, over 90% original bright blue, vivid case colors on the hammer, mostly un-molested screw heads, nice nipples, and the grips retain most all of their varnish. The action works flawlessly and the bore is very good. This all numbers matching "Root" was made in 1859 and is one of only 26,000 .28 calibers that were made. We rarly see them in this condition. PRICE: $4,750 We are Antique & Modern Firearms in Lexington, KY, dealer of fine firearms since 1974. PH. 859-276-1419 We Buy, Sell and Trade Firearms & Knives. Have a Individual Firearm, Firearms Collection, or Firearms Estate to sell, let us know, we can buy or consignment sell it for you. (sales at am-firearms)
