Description: Description: Colt 1851 Navy with Enfield Storekeepers stamp in left grip. - Serial # 188247 (all matching) This very rare group of "51 Navies was researched and described by Nathaniel Swayze in his seminal book "The Colt 1851 Navy and it's Variations". and more recent information can be found in Robert Jordan and Dan Geri"s book of "Colt 1851 and 1861 Navies and Conversions", In their book they refer to a huge international survey of Colt Navies finding there are only 110 examples extant with the Storekeerpers cartouche. Manufactured in Harford Conn. The barrel top flat is clearly marked " - Address Col. Sam Colt New-York U.S. America - The letter L (for London) apears under each serial number and the English proof marks (crown over V. and crown over GP) are on left side of barrel lug and between each cylinder. All screw heads are perfect and untouched. Alll metal surfaces are smooth wih no rust or pitting and show trces of finish under a very pleasing patina. Grips whow most of original shiny finish. Very presentable example of a very rare gun.
