Original Colt 1861 Navy .36 cal
Description: Revolver is in 10% or so condition. All serial numbers match indicating that it was made in 1865, the last year of our Civil War. The most current Fjestad book (my gun bible) I use indicates its value at $2000 in 10% condition. I have also verified with multiple other evaluators. I have seen them go for more than $2K in like-condition Two of the percussion nipples have been replaced with modern nipples and the screw that holds the wedge securing the barrel to the frame is also not original. Everything else to the best of my non-expert eye appears to be original. The action works as it should, albeit the gun is a bit loose if shaken left to right and back. Simple fix that I'll leave to next owner. I'm a bit loose if shaken left to right and I'm nowhere near as old. I was offered $1200 by Collector's Firearms which should give an idea of its value as they come pretty close to doubling their money on their purchases...but do look around to be satisfied that my asking price represents a great deal for you on a rare, vintage handgun. The Navy scene on the cylinder is gone and the Samuel Colt adress on the top of the barrel is hardly visible. Is it shootable? By the replacement two nipples, I trust that it has been shot, but not by me in the 15 or so years that I've had it. More pictures? Tell me what you want... Other questions? Email me. Don't call...too many solicitation calls that yours will get mixed up with and dumped. If you insist and your fingers are broken for an email, leave me a good message. But better to email me with your number and I'll try to reach you... For the sale, I'll accept a USPS money order or personal check, if you are prepared to wait to get the gun until the check clears. Shipping's going to be $50 insured...and as you likely know, can be sent to you directly...unless you are in a lefty "minder" state that adds on to federal requirements. If shipping is less, I'll give a refund...more, I'll get it. Want to make an offer? Go ahead, as long as it's north of $1200. OBTW...Want to talk? Again...send me an email with your phone number and I'll call you back...You get it and Sally says "send it back"...no problem. Between this site and others, I've sold a lot of my 60 year collection with one constant - satisfied buyers. Rob, US Army (Retired) SOLD Antique: Yes |
