Colt model 1860 Army - conversion
Description: Colt model 1860 Army Conversion, s/n 58121. Manufactured 1862. Conversion was patterned after the Richards/Mason, but done by an unknown gunsmith. Firing pin and rear sight on hammer. Judging by wear patterns, and patina, conversion was performed early in the life of the gun. Serial #s on frame, triggerguard, and butt match. Wedge stamped 501 (could be 581). Cylinder and cylinder pin marked 46. Inspectors stamp H behind triggerguard, and below hammer, and S at bottom of barrel. Gun only periodically locks up when hammer is pulled. Rifling very good throughout. Gun shows well, with plum to grey finish throughout.
