1860s mfr CIVIL WAR Antique REMINGTON “New Model” NAVY Percussion Revolver
Description: 1860s mfr CIVIL WAR Antique REMINGTON “New Model” NAVY Percussion Revolver One of 28,000 Revolvers Manufactured Here we present an antique Remington New Model Navy Revolver manufactured in Ilion, New York. Remington manufactured approximately 28,000 of the .36 caliber New Model Navy revolvers between 1863 and 1875. About 4,300 of these revolvers were purchased by the U.S. Navy. This revolver lacks the anchor stamp found on some U.S. Navy Remington revolvers. There were three progressive models made by Remington. They were the Remington-Beals Army & Navy (1860–1862), the 1861 Army & Navy (1862–1863), and the New Model Army & Navy (1863–1875). The three models are nearly identical in size and appearance. Subtle but noticeable differences in hammers, loading levers, and cylinders help identify each model. The 1861 Remington actually transitioned into New Model appearance by late 1862, slowly transforming throughout 1862, due to continual improvement suggestions from the U. S. Ordnance Department. This solid frame revolver came with a high polish blue finish on the barrel, frame and cylinder. The hammer has a casehardened finish and the trigger is niter blue. The trigger guard is brass. The two-piece walnut grips are oil finished. The top of the octagon barrel is roll-stamped "PATENTED SEPT. 14, 1858/E. REMINGTON & SONS, ILLION, NEW YORK, U.S.A./NEW-MODEL" in three lines. Many of these were converted to a .38 caliber metallic cartridge before ever leaving the factory, as the Rollin-White patent was expiring. The overall condition is very good. Dark patina throughout. The action is excellent. The bore is very good with sharp rifling. The grips show use and remain solid. Numbers match. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 7-3/8 inches. Caliber: .36 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2650 #247662 Price: $2,650.00 Buy Now Antique: Yes Contact Seller |
