1858 Remington .44 Army Percussion Snub Nose 2 1/4β Barrel
Description:
SOLD No FFL. This is a Remington 1858 .44 percussion revolver that has a reduced snub nosed 2 1/4 inch barrel. It was made some years ago by Richland Arms as a regular 1858 Army pistol with an 8" barrel, and has recently been recrafted into a very effective snub nose black powder revolver. The pistol not only retains a reduced length ramrod, it has a unique custom lockup system that secures the ramrod AND the cylinder rod and locks them into place. See photos. This particular revolver is extremely solid and has clear sharp clicks when cocked. It was selected for this conversion because it is so very solid, more so than those originally made by Remington or the usual Italian manufacturers. A percussion pistol that had the barrel cut off was often referred to as a Mormon Avenging Angel, the type of pistol said to have been carried and used by Porter Rockwell, body guard for Joseph Smith and later for Brigham Young. The barrel work and custom fitting was designed and made by Victor Brown, the crafty owner of Fair Oaks Firearms in Boerne, Texas. (fairoaksfirearmsgmail) There has never been any conversion made that allows a Remington 1858 to be cut down and yet retain the ramrod and cylinder rod in place. Black powder and may be shipped to anyone who may legally receive and possess it. Please email any questions or comments. Holster not included.
