1850s Antique COLT Hartford English DRAGOON .44 Percussion SCARCE Revolver
One of ABOUT 700 Assembled at Colt’s LONDON FACTORY
Description: 1850s Antique COLT Hartford English DRAGOON .44 Percussion SCARCE Revolver One of ABOUT 700 Assembled at Colt’s LONDON FACTORY Here we present an antique Colt Hartford English Dragoon Percussion Revolver, manufactured circa 1857 in Colt’s London Factory using Hartford made components. Only about 700 of this variant were produced. It was an interesting group of revolvers for several reasons, one of which is that it was numbered in its own range and has a wide array of features for such a small batch since Colt used new-old stock to complete them. Colt’s Dragoons experienced some of the harshest conditions the mid-19th century had to offer, and it is amazing that any survived, in any condition. This pistol was designed for use by horse-mounted rifleman, and it is so much pistol that you will want a horse to carry it for you because of its significant weight. This Dragoon’s parts were manufactured in Hartford, Connecticut, then shipped over the Atlantic to be finished and assembled in Colt’s London factory. Very interesting indeed is the fact that about 200 of these revolvers came back across the “pond” to participate in the American Civil War during a period of time when both Union and Confederacy were desperate for small arms. The top of the barrel is marked “ADDRESS COL. COLT LONDON”. “COLTS PATENT” on the left side of the frame. This example’s serial number “511” is within the correct range for this run of revolvers. This one could have possibly, if not likely, seen use during the American Civil War. This is a great opportunity to add one of Samuel Colt’s most recognized inventions to your collection, a Civil War era Colt Dragoon! The overall condition is good. Weathered, plum refinish throughout. The action is strong. The bore is dim with strong rifling. The grip has been replaced and is solid. Numbers match on the grip frame, trigger guard, frame, barrel and cylinder arbor. British proofs on the barrel. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 7-1/2 inches. Caliber: .44 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $5600 #247187 Price: $5,600.00 Buy Now Antique: Yes Contact Seller |
