FACTORY LETTERED "TURKISH CONTRACT" SMITH & WESSON NEW MODEL No.3 RIM-FIR PRODUCED FOR THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE the "TURKISH CONTRACT MODEL" - New Model No. 3 , chambered for the .44 Henry Rim-fire. SMITH & WESSON made 5,281 from 1879 to 1883, and provided the Ottoman Government the Services of one of their inspectors, A. F. Cameron, to serve as their chief inspector for this Contract Run. His initials, "A.F.C.", are Stamped
on the top of the Left Grip panel on this revolver. The inspection mark "P" is visible on the rear face of the cylinder and the frame beneath the cylinder. Matching serial numbers are on the butt, right grip panel, cylinder and barre Very Good Condition, retaining 45% plus of the Original Factory Blue finish with mixed blue-brown patina. These are a difficult model to find in fine condition, due to the hard use these guns experienced in the TURKISH SERVICE. The worn grips are good, with dings throughout, also has the Standard Lanyard ring .
Mechanically excellent. Very rare in any condition.
