Here we present an antique Colt Cloverleaf House Revolver, made in 1874 in Hartford, Connecticut, with a production run between 1871 and 1876. Only about 7,500 of these unique revolvers were made, with only 2,200 of the 5-shot House Models and about 5,300 of them with the distinctive 4-shot, “cloverleaf” cylinder. It was chambered for the .41 Rimfire, a relatively large cartridge for the size of pistol. It was intended for self-defense and succeeded. They were marketed as being good guns for home protection, hence the moniker “House Revolver”.
