Antique Remington Model 1875 44-40 Revolver No FFL
Description:
This is the scarce 1875 Remington Single Action 44-40 revolver. This is the pistol Remington made to compete with the Colt 1873 SAA. There were more than 350,000 SAAs made but less than 30,000 of the 1875 Remington New Frontier. This revolver still has a dark scrubbed finish on the barrel and elsewhere acquired many many years ago. This pistol came from the same estate some other very old revolvers from Mexico came from. Likely spent a long time exposed to the elements during the brutal Mexican Revolution at the turn of the 19th/20th century. There are no legible marks anywhere except what is either a serial number or batch number on the frame beneath the grip. #390. Functions quite well, and has safety, half cock, and full cock. Indexes and locks up as it should. Grips are in excellent condition. Lanyard ring is solid and secure. Sold as a collector's item only. Remember this is an antique Black Powder gun, so have a competent gunsmith inspect if any use is contemplated. Please send any questions. No sales to California, New York, New Jersey, or anywhere else where restricted. Thank you.
