CIVIL WAR ERA
Description:
IMPORTED , CIVIL WAR CONFEDERATE, "KERR" PATENT REVOLVER. ONE OF APPROX. 9000 IMPORTED DURING THE CIVIL WAR FOR USE BY THE CONFEDERATE STATES. This Confederate Kerr Army Revolver Serial number #8858, which is found on the cylinder and on right side of frame. Has a very well struck “JS "over "Anchor” marking.It Also has "Assembley" Numbers "#299", that are found in five locations," on front face of cylinder, frame flat below cylinder, underside of butt cap, inside triggerguard bow and in the wood under back strap. Has "L.A.C". ,along with "proof" marks" on top barrel flat. Some where around 9000 of these revolvers are known tho have run the blockade.
Revolver is correctly marked on the lock “London Armoury Co.”. The frame is marked “Kerr’s Patent ”. "8858".This gun, overall, appears to have seen use, though most markings are fairly easy to read, as can be seen in photos and gun appears complete. The “JS Anchor” stamp is quite discernible, as can be seen in photos and is a very strong mark. .44 caliber, single action. 5 shot.Strong action and lock-up
Overall gun is smooth with good edges. Markings are all easily read. Metal surfaces are blue mixed with some oxidation and gun metal grey. Octagon 5.5" barrel with a strong rifled bore with some oxidation. The Fine checkered Walnut grips are very nice and un-buggered. Buyer Pays $20.00 shipping to the lower 48 states.
