British Transitional Improved Revolving Pistol Revolver
Description: Here’s an opportunity to fix it and make some money! This British transitional revolving pistol is in good condition considering it is probably from the 1850’s. These revolvers actually saw some action during the Civil War. I have seen a picture of a Civil War soldier holding one as well as seeing one in relic condition that was recovered at a battlefield. The revolver is about 12" long overall with a 5 1/2" barrel. This one is a product of the Birmingham trade as evidenced by their proof marks on the bottom of the barrel and on the cylinder. The barrel is marked “IMPROVED REVOLVING PISTOL” on the top. The revolver is functional. When you squeeze the trigger, the cylinder rotates then the hammer falls. The frame and parts have scroll engraving. The grips are good with the right only having a “bruise” about ½ way down. The metal has a brown patina. The bore displays some roughness but there is rifling present. It is about a .38 or so caliber. The pistol comes apart easily but the screw holding the barrel assembly in place does not screw all the way down so there is a little play in the barrel to frame fit. I don’t know if the screw is too long or what? There is only 1 nipple present in the cylinder so that is why I am offering the pistol at a reduced price. If you have the parts to repair, you can probably double your money. SOLD Antique: Yes |
