Hammerless revolver
Description: Looking for a classic piece of American firearms history? Check out this Very Rare Antique American Arms Co. Hammerless Model 1890. Top Break .38S&W double action Hammerless revolver Top of barrel marked: AMERICAN ARMS CO.BOSTON PAT’D.MAY.25.86.MAR.11.89.JUN.17.90SEP.1.91 Introducing this VERY rare .38 double action, top break revolver, a true gem from the late 19th century. This particular model, serial number 3873 was produced 1890’S . Probably 1891-92 according to the serial number . Only about 20,000 produced. This revolver features a 3 ¼” round rib barrel, fluted cylinder with locking notches and auto shell ejecting. This revolver is a firearms oddity and a super rare collectors item. Features: 1.Rocker type push bar top latch on a hump-back frame locks and releases the trigger. When the barrel is opened The top latch prevents the trigger from being activated. 2.Push button release on the left side of top strap to remove the cylinder for loading and unloading. 3.Side plate with a small sliding switch with that incorporates a unique 2 stage trigger pull. Push the bar forward and the revolver works as usual in double action. Slide the bar toward the back and the trigger stops about ¾ of the way back. Then just a slight trigger pull activate the hammer second stage. This is the first 130 year revolver I have come across with this configuration. 4. Safety toggle mounted on the top of the back strap. Condition: 3 ¼” barrel with a nice bore lightly oxidized, some tiny bit of minor pitting and still showing very strong rifling. The metal surface looks very good with the usual minor starches and handling marks for a revolver of this age (130 years). Nickel plate is all original and in good condition. Very nice case-hardened colors on the trigger. Please judge from the photos. The original diamond checkered monogram hard rubber grips rate excellent with minor handling marks and scratch numbered to the gun. All barrel markings are clear and legible and all appropriate parts are serialized to the gun. Barrel to frame fit is very tight. Mechanically functions well in and double action. Hammer return spring is a little sluggish but works with a good crisp pull. Lock-up and timing are excellent. Despite its age, this Pistol is in very good mechanical condition and has been well-maintained over the years. It's a true collector's item that's also functional in very good condition with minor wear and tear consistent with age. This revolver is the perfect addition to any antique firearm collection or for those who appreciate a very unusual classic piece of history.
