Italian Police Type Baston-Bodeo Revolver 1889 Possible Prototype
Description: Serial #6, 10.35mm Italian Revolver, 3 1/2" octagon barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a small amount of freckling within the grooves. This is an interesting and unusual revolver, nearly identical to the Belgian-made Baston-Bodeo revolvers used by some Italian police departments in the late 19th century. This example is devoid of any model, maker, or proof markings, save for the numeral “6" on the frame, cylinder, barrel, and cylinder pin. The metal retains 95-97% of the original blue with some mild fading and silvering along the exposed edges and projections. The checkered wooden grips are in fine shape, with some minor handling marks, and flattening of the points. In addition to the lack of markings (the police marked guns are extensively marked) the revolver exhibits some slight differences in the design of the loading gate, and ejector rod finial. This may, in fact be a prototype for the later, marked models, but is nevertheless in fine condition overall.
