H. Pieper, Belgium
Description: H. Pieper, Belgium, manufacture double action 7 shot revolver, chambered for 8mm Pieper cartridge. This revolver is usually found with mexican markings because the several thousand that were made were ordered by and shipped to Mexico for the Mexican Revolution circa 1910. This was a "gas sealed" revolver, many believe to be influenced by the Nagant revolver, but some believe the Nagant was influenced by the Pieper. "Gas sealed" meaning that when the gun is fired either single or double action the cylinder moves forward so that there is NO gap between barrel and cylinder as in most revolvers. This Revolver shows none of the Mexican Markings so common on this very uncommon gun, leading us to believe that this particular gun is even more uncommon. This gun is in working condition, it is remarkably clean considering its age, the barrel has some pitting but not so as to make it unusable, provided you can obtain or reload propper ammo. This revolver appears complete and not refinished or tampered with, it retains the lanyard ring which is usually missing on other Piepers today. A note on the ammo, this gun has no ammo with it, ammo for this gun is easily confused with ammo for the Nagant revolver, they are NOT INTERCHANGABLE. ammuntion for the Pieper was made as 8mm Pieper, UMC Pieper, Remington UMC Pieper. it was manufactured up until about 1926. This is a fine example of a rare firearm in working condition. The H. Pieper was an inovative large frame revolver it became almost synonomus with Colt and Mauser during the Mexican revolution, a it has rebounding hammer, a swing out 7 shot cylinder, with a "Colt" style cylinder latch, and one of the few and possibly the first type of revolver to be "Gas Sealed" This is one for the collector! Circa 1896 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Manufacturer: H. Pieper Model: 1896 Caliber Info: 8mm Bore: some pitting Chambers: good Condition: good/fine Metal Condition: very good |
