Forhand Wadsworth New Model Army 44-40

Description:
Here is a Forehand and Wadsworth New Model Army.  This one has been there and done that.  The hammer cocks and the cylinder rotates but does not lock.  The cylinder loading gate swings out and the ejector rod works but is rough.  The cylinder release works and the cylinder is removable.  The barrel is period cut and the grips are made by someone living on the frontier.  Flaydermans estimates that under 1000 were made.  I have scoured the Internet researching this model.  I have found 28 of these guns listed with serial numbers from serial number 5 to 600.  Its my opinion there are way less than 1000 made.  On the other hand I did the same research for the Forehand and Wadsworth Old Model Army and found 32 guns ranging from serial number 74 to 1412.  There were more that double of the Old Model Army ones made than this New Army Model.  Cool old frontier revolver.
