Extremely rare antique S&W improved model Schofield 45 single action revolver
Description:
Antique Arms is proud to offer another extremely rare revolver. Manufactured 1876-1877 only 5,934 produced with walnut grips and blued finish being standard this original nickel finished 6 shooter is quite possibly the last survivor of it's kind.
Having an early serial number for the second model Schofield 45 and U.S. stamped on the butt, inspector markings on various parts, this revolver was issued to the U.S. Cavalry in 1876. Eventually all of the Smith and Wesson contract revolvers 7 inch barrels were shortened to 5 inches and sold as surplus to Schuyler, Hartley, and Graham, N.Y. dealers who in turn sold almost all of them to Wells Fargo. This antique pistol is an EXCELLENT condition EXTREMELY rare exception to that. It did not get stamped at Wells Fargo.
You will be delighted to observe in the pictures the perfect condition of the factory markings and the originality of the finish. Not to mention the actions are EXCELLENT. The barrel catch works perfectly and remains tight, by design it is "improved." The ejector works perfectly. It remains clean and oiled. There is no rust anywhere. The cylinder locks up tight, perfectly timed on every chamber. The trigger works perfectly. It's a shooter !
